Rob Bateman

Rob Bateman is the co-founder of Away3D, a popular open source framework for producing realtime 3D graphics in Flash.

He has been involved in programming for the web for over 10 years, and created his first 3D engine back in 2001 using Flash 5. It was pretty terrible.

Since then he has worked for a variety of agencies and institutions, the longest stint at the BBC where he moved into Flash fulltime and created many successful games and applications for the BBC Sport and News websites.

In 2007 after the initial launch of Away3D, Rob formed Away Media, a production & consultancy outfit whose work primarily involves projects using the Away3D engine. He is a certified Adobe community expert, and continues to lead engine development alongside the rest of the Away3D team.
