Flash Contracting

David Fox

Becoming a contract developer in London can be a pretty stressful decision. Setting up limited companies, finding jobs, getting paid and generally fitting in are just a few things you need to master before you can even begin to deal with crazy deadlines, difficult clients, switching workspaces every other week and the occasional piece of badly written code.

This session will show the pro’s and con’s of contract life for those considering stepping over to the dark side and for those who have already taken the plunge, we’ll be going through ways in which you can make the market work for you, dealing with recruiters, how to minimize the pain of contracting’s disadvantages and also a few tips on how to push your day rate up.

Thanks, good presentation, missed this session. Possibly going to go freelance soon, need to start understanding this whole tax thing.

On another note, it’d be great to get HD quality vids. Maybe LFPUG can sell out to influxis, get them to host ;)

The problem is the size of the videos. The hour long videos are are large and we currently have over 15GB of videos, adding more each month. Making them HD would dramatically increase the bandwidth and storage that Influxis (yes Influxis have been hosting our videos for a few years now) provide us with.

That said I also record these on my MacBook Pro with doesn’t record in HD anyway.
