Multi-Platform OpenGL ES (19:00 – 20:00) – Liam Flynn
Flash is a fanatic environment in which to produce a product once and use the results across many platforms. Although it is forging it’s way onto many new mobile platforms it can not yet be considered fully supported on many of them and may not be for some time.

OpenGL ES is a popular cross-platform API for 2D and 3D graphics on embedded systems. This includes not only mobile phones but also consoles, appliances and vehicles. Most notably it is fully supported on both iOS and Android. It provides a flexible and powerful low-level interface between software and graphics acceleration.

This session will aim to provide an introduction to OpenGL ES specifically aimed at Flash developers. In addition, it undertakes to investigate techniques for ensuring that the codebase can be easily ported from device to device, without having to re-code.

OpenGL ES put into practice: WebGL & Android (20:15 – 21:15) – Dennis Ippel
The first part of the presentation will cover hardware-accelerated 3D in the browser. WebGL is a 3D API for the browser and is based on OpenGL ES. It is exposed through the HTML Canvas element and is cross-platform and royalty free. In his presentation Dennis will give an introduction to WebGL and he will explore some of the libraries that are already available.

The second part of the presentation will be about Min3D, an open source project Dennis is participating in. Min3D is an open-source 3D library for the Android platform that is built on top of OpenGL ES.
