Agency Republic
Robin Wong (Head of Creative Technology)
After a dubious start in the shady world of online casinos, and a dabbling with Visual Basic, Robin’s been playing around with Flash since 2000, working on everything from car entertainment interfaces, to giant news displays, and even a website or two along the way. Robin ditched the carefree life of a freelancer in 2005 to join the illustrious ranks of Republic, and explore the innovative uses of interactive technology further.
Rachel Hunt (Senior Designer OBE)
Inspired by what she took as a divine calling, experienced first in 1837 at Glue London and later throughout her life, Hunt committed herself to designing. This demonstrated a passion on her part, and also a rebellion against the expected role for a woman of her status which was to become a wife and mother. In those days, flash was a career with a poor reputation, filled mostly by poorer women, “hangers-on” who followed the armies. In fact developers were equally likely to function as cooks. Hunt announced her decision to enter Republic in 2006 evoking intense anger and distress from her family, particularly her mother.
Sam Court (Head of Technology)
After bombing out of a Ph.D. in speech recognition in the late 90s, Sam fell head first into the energy of web start-up culture. In 2004 he followed the energy and moved from Australia to join Republic. Always trying to deconstruct the world, Sam’s passionate about user behaviour and applications for new technologies.
